Maggie's Last Party

Back in the late 80's - Early 90's I used to frequent a club in North Carolina called Neo's. It was a great little place owned by a tall warlock looking German? dude. The DJ, Q, played a nice mix of acid house, EBM, Manchester and regular electronic music. A sonic oasis compared to the typical Butt Rock clubs that surround the military base.

I recently re discovered a dj mix tape Q gave me of one of his sets. Some great stuff on there. Most of the tape is stuff that I have on cd or vinyl, but there's one song that I've always liked which bothers me. For years I've wondered who did the track.

It was simple, a British woman speaking over heavy acid-house beats stating "Acid Party" and that "The Bass Lives On". Pretty simple stuff, but very effective. This was back before the days of the Internet, and for the life of me, I never did find out what song it was.

Randomly, today the song popped into my head again. This time I turned to google.

It was Margaret Thatcher!

Maggie's Last Party by V.I.M.

Finally I can close the door on that conundrum.
