I've been Trouted!
So a few days ago I log into my computer at work and immediately get an IM from someone called DutyBoundTrout saying "Are you Going to Die?"
"That's Odd" I think. I don't know any Trouts, Duty Bound or not.
Just to be nice, I answered "Yes" then immediately blocked the fish, thinking that would be the end of it.
Today, I log in on my laptop at a coffee shop and am pounced upon by a RewiredTrout!
This time it's spewing poetry. These are the words of knowledge bestowed upon me:
RewiredTrout: When I consider how my light is spent e're half my days, in this dark world and wide, and that one Talent which is death to hide, Lodg'd with me useless, though my Soul more bent to serve therewith my Maker, and present doth God exact day-labour, light deny'd, I fondly ask.Ooooooo Kay?
Now, I was a bit curious. So I replied. And they responded!
The responder was some person who's name *ISN'T* apparently related to fish, and who was just as confused as I. They replied to my query of "Who is this?" with their own "Who is this?"
After a bit of introduction and explanation, the typer on the other end, (I didn't get their name,) said that my name was displaying as Pi314159265Trout rather than Christopher J as it should. They said that the original message they got said: "Ask the next person you see if they like Colonel Angus"
Fun fun....
After a bit of a google, I figured out that the trout responsible is apparently some sort of AIM IM Bot. It seems that it will connect two random people as they come on line. It then changes their display name to a spiffy new Troutonym and finishes off with a nonsense message to each participant.
Anyway if you are really curious, check out this Livejournal community. Looks like people out there have some fishy hobbies!
