Dexter Street Stompers @ The Tractor 08-28-08

Thursday I got a chance to catch The Dexter Street Stompers at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle.

Not only are they an awesome Jugband, but they also feature our own Boaz Frankel on Kazoo!

They played a half hour set of about 7 songs which included a few traditional era covers and contemporaries by The Clash, The Saturday Knights and The Dandy Warhols. They also played a newly penned original which had the crowd singing along.

All around it was a great show. Do check them out if you get the chance.

The Dexter Street Stompers are:

  • John "John Brown" Brown : String Bass, Hair
  • Casey "Jaws" Coulombe : Jaw Harp, Hollerin'
  • "Dandy" Boaz Frankel : Kazoo, Glasses
  • Levi "Bossman" Fuller : Guitar, Banjo, Voice, Cat-herding
  • Jeff "Jefe" Heller : Washboard, Overalls
  • Cameron "Cambajamba" Preston : Jug, Beard
If there is one thing this show taught me, it's that I am really bad at concert pictures. Of the 26 shots I had these are the only questionably decent ones.

Sadly the shots of Cambajamba on the Jug and Jefe on the Washboard didn't turn out. Oh well I guess thats where that practice thing comes in.
