phonebook followup

When I posted this, I didn't realize that we are in the thick of phone book season RIGHT NOW!

This morning the other units in my 4plex each had a fresh set of phonebooks in plastic bags gracing their door mat. Mine was phonebook free!

So I guess the service does work! YMMV of course.

Also yesterday, ironically, there was a similarly themed post the the slog. Apparently, people can call Dex directly and request removal from the delivery list.

From the comment stream of the post it looks like there *is* a movement to create an official phone book opt out program. It isn't up an running yet, but looks like it's got some good backing. Good news that.

Magnobeam, Thanks for the reference to our organization www.YellowPagesGoesGreen.org. We are a grass roots group and rely on word of mouth to spread the news to stop the delivery of UNSOLICITED telephone books to our homes and businesses. We are not anti-Yellow Pages. If someone wants a book, great, but if we do not want one we should be allowed to say “NO”. At www.YellowPagesGoesGreen.org we will contact all the publishers and tell them the following people opt out from wanting a book. Again, thanks for the kind words and please spread the word.
