Must Read: How to Avoid Huge Ships

Now here is a really useful book!

How to Avoid Huge Ships.

I haven't read it, but apparently the Captain isn't joking. He's serious about his subject. Which is good I suppose, cause being run down by a Huge Ship is pretty serious too.

Some of the comments on the book at Amazon's site aren't so serious though:

This is an excellent text on safe seafaring. I am very anxious to see the next book in the series "How to avoid submarines".

Or this one:

One can almost imagine a sequel written by a train engineer "How to Avoid Parking on Train Tracks".

And this one, which I can't tell if it is meant to be a joke:

Trimmer's book brings up many fine points ... He includes the standard wave-your-flag boys attention getting techniques, but goes deeper to include a section on ramming speed.

RAMMING SPEED!

Regardless, this sounds like a book which should have a prominent spot in any serious person's library.
