How to watermark a photo
I was recently asked how I add the Copyright Watermark to my photos. Here is a quick how to that I've thrown together.
I use Adobe Photoshop to edit my photos. You can probably do all of this in another Photo Editing tool, but this example and screenshots will be demonstrated in photoshop.
Also, I am sure there are many ways to create a watermark, but this is how I do it. A Google search would likely result in links other methods.
- First open your image in your Image Editing application.

- Create two blank layers on top of the Image

- Choose the Text Tool and add your text to Layer 2 (The Top most layer) It is good to make it a darker neutral color that doesn't distract too much, I choose a dark Grey. Set the size and font face to what you want. You can also add text effects if you like. I usually use Linear Dodge on the layer and a small drop shadow on the font. I've hidden the photo layer so that you can see the Text in this screenshot

- Now select Layer 1 (The middle layer) Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool Drag a rectangle around the Text of your Watermark and Fill with a color of your choice.

- Move the two layers around so that they are aligned as you want them.
- Next we want to change the properties of the colored background layer. I change the Opacity of the background layer to 50% and change it to Linear Burn. Again, play with the settings til you have something that you like.

The final image with the Watermark should look something like this:
